TASK A: Professional profile... 1st Draft
This task was really useful for my professional practice, as I'm currently sending emails to ballet companies in Europe and also asking to participate in company classes, and I try to tailor my emails and the content of my artistic materials to each particular company, so this was a way of reviewing what I actually have in my CV.
CV's are usually written neatly, in list form, so it took me a while to get started in rewriting my own as a profile/paragraph. This is only the first draft so it can only improve from now on.. I hope!
After writing I went on to look at other's blog profiles, and liked how Helen Kindred wrote about herself and her achievements in third person, whereas I had used first person, so I think I will adjust into this format in my next draft.
I noticed as I was writing that I was conscious about keeping it short and seeing what was necessary and pertinent to my career, however after reading other blogs the majority of people list all of their professional work and anything they have achieved, generally arts based.
Some profiles were more formal than others, like my own. Maybe after writing more blog posts and communicating online with others on the course I will alter the formality of my profile as I will hopefully be more familiar with my network. It's great that some of us in Module one are already connecting on social media and sending voice notes to each other on how we're getting on.
It's still taking me longer than expected to write a blog posts, but I'll just have to keep practicing!
I've read through the handbook twice and this week I'm spending my time to type up what I wrote down in my journal last week.
Unfortunately I couldn't attend either of the skype calls today as I've started rehearsals for a new premiere in April so that's exciting! I've still managed to schedule time in my week to sit down for a couple of hours and concentrate fully on the course though.
Have a great week everyone!
