First blog post!

I had my first Skype session yesterday with Adesola, Helen, Nicole, Natalie, Matt, Michael, Syanne, Amber and Arghierenia before the term officially starts tomorrow.

It was nice to hear that a couple of others were also nervous before the call, but Michael pointed out that nerves mean we care. I’m actually looking forward to the future skype calls to get to know people in a similar line of work to me.

I liked that there were some people on the call who weren't completely new, beginning module two, as they shared tips and techniques for getting started. I already have a notebook/journal to get started, and have a habit of writing everything down and making lists so I’ll be comfortable doing that, but I’ll also try out voice notes which Helen and Nicole suggested as they’re quick and convenient whilst on the move.

We also spoke about writing style and adapting to being/writing academically, as we’re all in artistic and creative professions. Adesola encouraged us to write blogs regularly as it gets us writing more often and the people beginning module two also said blogs were useful for reflection. It will also be helpful to read other people’s blogs, so I will try what Arghirenia does by setting reminders on my phone to check blogs at least once a week.
Natalie suggested allocating time slots within our schedule for studying, so I will try to use my free afternoons and days off wisely! To be able to reach deadlines I’ll set them earlier in my own calendar to be more productive and prepared, and I think it will be beneficial to have goals to work towards.

So, I'm looking forward to starting tomorrow and getting back into studying!
